As a resident, you remain covered by the Serviço Nacional de Saúde (SNS) — your access to public healthcare is unaffected by leaving Arkadium.
SNS 24 provides 24/7 public health information and guidance.
🩺Private health insurance
Your Arkadium-provided private health insurance continues for 30 days after your termination date, then ends.
- Provider: Tranquilidade — AdvanceCare
- Broker: Costa Duarte
- Ask the insurer whether you can continue with an individual policy
The People Team can liaise with the broker through your account manager if you need help.
🍽️ Your benefits balance
Meal allowance & reimbursements (Coverflex)
🍽️Coverflex card & meal allowance (subsídio de alimentação)
- Your card stays active for 6 months after your termination date, and you keep access to your account during that time
- Any meal allowance balance remains available to use throughout those 6 months
- If needed, the balance can still be topped up for up to 30 days after termination
🧾Unspent benefits balance
- Any unspent benefits balance is returned to Arkadium
- A pro-rated calculation is applied to any amount under- or overspent
- The result is reflected on your final payslip

Your final settlement may include, as applicable:
- Outstanding base salary up to your last day
- Proportional holiday pay and holiday allowance (subsídio de férias)
- Proportional Christmas allowance (subsídio de Natal)
- Payment for accrued but untaken holiday
- Statutory compensation (compensação) where it applies to your situation

🏦Social security & retirement
Your contributions to Segurança Social stay on your record and remain with you.
If you applied any of your Coverflex benefits balance to a PPR / Retirement & Investment product, that money does not return to Arkadium. Check directly with your PPR provider for the access, management, and withdrawal rules that apply.

🏛️Claiming unemployment benefit
- Register with IEFP as a jobseeker as soon as possible after your last day
- Apply for unemployment benefit (subsídio de desemprego) with Segurança Social — generally within 90 days of your unemployment date
- You'll need your unemployment declaration from Arkadium to apply

Frequently asked questions
When will I get my final pay and documents?
Your final settlement and final payslip are available at the end of the pay cycle for the month of your termination. On request, Arkadium also issues your work certificate and your unemployment declaration so you can claim benefit. Make sure your IBAN and address are current so nothing is delayed.
How do I claim unemployment benefit?
Register as a jobseeker with IEFP, then apply for subsídio de desemprego with Segurança Social — generally within 90 days of your unemployment date. You'll need the unemployment declaration (declaração de situação de desemprego) from Arkadium. Segurança Social confirms your individual eligibility.
What happens to my Coverflex meal card balance?
Your card stays active for 6 months after your termination date, and you keep account access during that time — any meal allowance balance remains available to use. The balance can still be topped up for up to 30 days after termination if needed. Any unspent benefits balance is returned to Arkadium, with under/overspend pro-rated and reflected on your final payslip. (PPR balances are an exception — see Pay & Severance.)
Does my health insurance continue?
You remain covered by the public SNS as a resident. Your Arkadium-provided private insurance (Tranquilidade AdvanceCare) continues for 30 days from your termination date, then ends. You can ask the insurer about continuing on an individual policy, and the People Team can liaise with the broker (Costa Duarte) if needed.
